Sustainability is at the heart of Oury Clark. Established in 1935, we are eagerly working towards our centenary in 2035 with a continued commitment to an ambitious and meaningful environmental, social, and governance agenda – or, as many of our clients put it, planet, people, and practices.
Sustainability & ESG
We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint, supporting inclusive growth and promoting ethical business practices.
As part of this, we help manage risk and create value for clients by offering purpose-driven insight – helping sharpen the competitive edge of our client’s business strategies as well as shaping a resilient and sustainable future. We have expertise across the full spectrum of ESG issues and related law and accountancy – including DE&I, supply chain management, climate change and biodiversity – working with clients to embed purpose in every aspect of their business, helping to drive sustainable growth.
Environmental
As members of the SME Climate Hub – a non-profit global initiative that empowers small to medium sized companies to take climate action and build resilient businesses for the future.
Our history dates back to 1935, and we have been in Slough since 1940. We own both of our offices, and completed an extensive renovation of the London office in 2019, and in Slough in 2023, which raised our Energy Performance Certificate from D to B, significantly reducing our energy emissions.
Any cars owned by the firm are now electric and, as part of the renovation in Slough, there are now electric charging points for staff cars.
We plant a tree for every new client we welcome on board, calculate our carbon emissions and offset our carbon footprint via Ecologi.
Social
Everything we do at Oury Clark is only made possible thanks to the skill and commitment of the people we employ and, as they thrive, we are enabled to deliver the very best service to our clients.
The wellbeing of all who work with us is of paramount importance, enabling high performance and actively contributing to the quality of our team’s lives. As well as health insurance, parental leave, pension/retirement contributions, and performance rewards, we ensure time off is available for important events in the lives of those in people in our employ. In addition, the Partners have set up The Helping Hand fund to aid employees if there are ever circumstances meaning an employee is in desperate need of financial help.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) means we recognise that everyone is different, and everyone belongs. We work hard through continuous learning, events, and our networks to ensure that everyone can flourish at Oury Clark. We believe in investing in people’s career development and support training across a wide variety of professional qualifications.
We have always had a focus on supporting our communities, and we donate to various charities and work for others at discounted rates, including:
- The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
- Pancreatic Cancer Action
- Royal South Bucks Agricultural Assocation
- Trekstock (life alongside cancer)
- Trustees of the Cherry Groce Foundation (disability mobility)
- Britain Australia Society
- The Royal Flying Doctors Society
- Realsam (smart phone for the blind or low vision)
- Aldridge Foundation
- Salt Hill Society
We also provide a Salary Sacrifice Charitable Giving Scheme for our staff providing a tax efficient method for donations.
We donate our surplus IT equipment to Little Lives UK extending the life of this equipment, reducing E-waste, limiting the manufacturing of new products, supporting communities, promoting sustainable practices and contributing to the circular economy.
Governance
As a combined accountancy and legal practice, we are rightly held to high standards. We view all elements of ESG as indispensable board-level considerations.
The advice we give comes from a deep understanding of the myriad pressures and challenges of ‘walking the talk’ when it comes to sustainability. In all we do, we act responsibly to create long-term value and support future success – for our people, for our clients, and for the wider world.
One of the largest independent firms in the Thames Valley, we are proud to be a Gold Member of London and Partners which helps 300 businesses a year get started in the UK.
